Hello Teachers and Administrators,FullSizeRender

I am a doctoral candidate at Trevecca Nazarene University, and I am conducting an evaluation of the effect an outdoor environmental and adventure program has on participant’s environmental literacy.

My priority is to make participating in this project as easy for you and your students as possible.

My mixed methods project includes immersing myself in the Jolt program to collect qualitative data through direct observation of consenting participants, recording unstructured conversations, taking photographs, analyzing program curriculum documents, and student work. In addition, quantitative data will be collected from the Jolt participants and a control group through a 3-minute pre- and post-program online survey using the New Ecological Paradigm Scale and General Self-Efficacy Scale. The survey instrument will also collect the participant’s name, age, and gender.

A link to the survey questions is provided below:

Written parental consent and student assent must be obtained prior to participation in the project.

The Guardian Consent and Participant Assent Forms are provided below:

It is hoped that this project will result in an improved understanding of effective informal leadership and environmental education programs. This project will be submitted as a dissertation, and the results may be published in educational journals. Prior to submission in any educational journals, I will forward you the analysis for your concurrence.

All data will be completely confidential. I will assign pseudo names to all participants. Any information that I present will not be linked to any personal information that could be used to identify individual participants. I will not use your school’s name without written permission. I am confident that I have taken the necessary steps to ensure that my research will be conducted in ways that meet ethical standards.

Linked below is the IRB Letter of Approval.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you for your consideration.
